Bilingual LAN-first warehouse & asset management for a 1320MW power plant — with USB RFID employee cards
Warehouse Pro digitizes CPHGC Tool Store operations: tools and consumables, issue/return with inspection tags, USB Mifare RFID card tap to load an employee’s full profile and speed custody flows, scheduled segment inspections (Electric, Lifting/Rigging, Measurement, SCBA), cycle and periodic stock counts with Excel/print count sheets, manager approvals for scrap/lost, asset health, and audit-ready exports — English and 简体中文 in one interface.
The Problem
The tool store relied on manual registers and spreadsheets: slow employee lookup at the counter, no live overdue visibility, weak custody traceability, bilingual reporting friction, and slow physical stock counts before updating the system.
The Solution
Delivered a full-stack WMS on the existing Tool Store server and LAN — React UI, Express API, PostgreSQL/Prisma, role-based access, dashboard KPIs, USB RFID keyboard-wedge support for employee cards, QR-assisted issue flows, inspection and count schedules, photo verification on returns, and Excel export across inventory and transaction reports.
Why LAN-first — Phase 1 on existing server
Phase 1 runs on CPHGC’s Tool Store PC and office LAN — no cloud dependency. Optional USB Mifare RFID readers plug in as keyboard wedges; no custom driver stack.
Operational fit
Storekeepers work on the plant network; the app binds to 0.0.0.0 with PostgreSQL in Docker on the same machine. One URL on port 5000 after build — suitable for demo and production on site.
Data stays on site
Tool custody, employee issue history, RFID card enrollments, and audit logs remain on CPHGC infrastructure — aligned with industrial security expectations and RFQ Phase 1 scope (no Oracle/NAS lock-in).
Key Features
RFID employee identification
USB Mifare card readers enroll and match employee RFID UIDs. Tap a card anywhere in the app to open that employee’s full profile, or identify them instantly during issue/return — bilingual unknown-card alerts when a card is not enrolled.
Tool custody & consumables
Issue/return with employee, department, inspection tag, due dates, overdue warnings, consumable consumption, printable custody slips, and RFID- or search-assisted employee selection.
Cycle & periodic stock audit
Segment-based cycle counts with due schedules, quarterly full-store counts, physical count sheets (Excel + print), and variance posting to stock.
Inspections & asset health
Segment inspection reminders (Electric, Lifting/Rigging, Measurement, SCBA), damage/repair/scrap workflows, and manager approval queue.
Bilingual operations & reporting
English / 简体中文 UI, inventory master with SKU QR labels, KPI dashboard, and Excel exports for inventory, overdue, audit history, and more.
